This is the second time that I wrote about Jenny but the first time was in a very academic way. Now I'm just going to talk about why I feel like she's relevant to my work.
The first point that I'm going to make is that We have different yet similar approaches when it comes to defying the traditional aspects of beauty.
Most of her nude paintings that she does represent more curvier or bruised women. Her innovative look at beauty broadens the traditional nude form into a way of commenting on the body, gender politics, sexuality, and even self-realization. Her works often depict distorted, fleshy, and "scary" female bodies to provoke interest, confusion, questions, and excitement.
The way I do that is probably in a completely opposite way than she does. I paint "beautiful" women in a more sexualized way but still looking to get my message out there while making the viewer confused, having to question themselves "Is this really what it is about?".
Different yet similar.
