I'm going to talk about five books that have been helpful in my research on 'Free female sexual expression' and the female gaze.
The first book is 'Female nude' by S.M.ART. This is a mini-book which makes it portable to travel and read. It's talking about some of the most famous classical female nude art pieces, whether it's paintings or sculptures.
The second is 'The female nude - Art, Obscenity, and Sexuality' by Lynda Nead. It's mostly explaining the social and cultural meaning of the female nude and why it's different than pin-ups and pornography.
The third one is 'What great paintings say - BEAUTIFUL NUDES' by Rose-Marie and Rainer Hagen. This book is showing us the symbolism of some popular classical painting and explaining them.
The fourth is my absolute favorite. 'GIRL ON GIRL - Art and photography in the age of the female gaze' is such an inspirational and interesting book. It's talking about female artists, feminism, and the female gaze. I recommend this book to anyone it's really good.
The fourth one is important for my career as a tattoo artist. 'BODY ART' by Nicholas Thomas. This book is showing different body art from different cultures and years.
